Mata Ortiz pottery is a Mexican art revived by Juan Quezada. His efforts have pulled the people of the town out of poverty. This is not a story of Mata Ortiz, however. The narrow necked pot with rims on top that you see with detailed figures of tribal folks dancing on this deeply poppy red colored object, is where the analogy lies. The vase is made by rural potters around the city of Delhi. It is one a reflection of living in harmony with your environment - plants and animals both, and second that pottery making can be recreational not only a means of living.
