From The Potters' Wheel (Photo)

Throwing is probably the most universal way of making pots. It requires mastering techniques of kneading, centering, and opening.

Those of us who have tried throwing pottery have found it to be a humbling experience to lift the walls of even a small piece of clay on a fast moving wheel against all the centrifugal forces. It is an experience  far removed from the romantic scene depicted in the 1990 movie 'Ghost' played by actress Demi Moore and Patrick Swayze.

But there is no surprise there, fiction and reality often dont coincide;

Some of us give up on our fictional dreams and ideas way too soon. The trick to realize them is to stay put and keep trying, if Throwing discourages you, may be you can begin with Pinch pottery!
