Tomato Planting (Photo)
This spring I get a phone call from delhi from my parents. They invite me to taste their delicious cherry tomatoes growing on their terrace. Miles apart, I decided to visit the Tomatomania festival in the water conservation garden in Cuyamaca here locally in San Diego. I got two tomato plants and planted them in containers. Some tips that I gathered:
- Provide plenty of sun
- Add organic fertilizer in layers
- Water as often as every day
- Plants will need support with bamboo stake
The plants seem to be flowering which is a good sign. Our salad plates now await the real tomatoes. The water conservation garden is a beautiful place, with a small butterfly pavilion, and lots of ideas to be water wise.
