Norbulingka is a 30 minute taxi ride from Mcleod Ganj, Dharamsala. Norbulingka means Jewel Park in Tibetan language, takes its name from the Dalai Lama's summer palace in Lhasa. Founded in 1990, it provides jobs and training in Tibetan art for those living in India such as wood carving, weaving, and the famous Buddhist craft of 'Thangka' painting.

One such artifact from the institute is this set of square coasters, depicting a royal Tibetan woman's face.
